UAX presents its Chair of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (OHB)

The Alfonso X el Sabio University creates a chair based on the therapeutic potential of tissue oxygenation

Over the years, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO)  has demonstrated its therapeutic potential. However, nowadays we find an increase in pathologies of chronic character and its research becomes absolutely necessary for provide the best therapeutic option to patients. In this context and with the great potential of “Non-Pharmacological” treatments, the UAX is launching this new Research Chair, which was presented yesterday at the Villanueva de la Cañada campus.

UAX students will actively participate  in the operation of the  Chair of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, taking part in  diffussion   actions, research (through Degree and Master’s Degree Final Projects), specialised training in HBO, as well as the  handling of hyperbaric chambers.

On the other hand, the UAX OHB Chair  is aimed at both teachers and students of different degrees and masters  in the field of  Health Sciences  (Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nursing, CAFYD, Veterinary, Dentistry, Nutrition and Podiatry) who want to carry out interdisciplinary actions   and apromote the “One Health”approach, as well as companies  interested in participating in this innovative philosophy.

The five lines of research on hyperbaric chambers

The OHB UAX Chair has as  its main mission the advancement and development of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy  and, to this end,  five lines of research  have been created  to address the present and future challenges of patients:

  • Line of Research in  Long Covid or Persistent Covid.
  • Line of Research in  Oncological Functional Recovery.
  • Line of Research in  Sports Performance.
  • Line of Research in  Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery.
  • Line of Research in  Neurosciences.

The important role of the  representatives of Oxybarica, the  OHB Foundation  and the  Hyperbaric Society, as well as the companies that actively participate in the Chair, such as  NIPPON GASES,  PRIM  and  Clínicas Dorsia, should be highlighted.
